Ways to Volunteer

Be an Encourager for someone in need to take these Actions to Change Their Life

Perhaps you know someone you’d like to be able to help but you’re not sure the best way to do it. You might have a desire or even a calling to help other people. You would like some resources that could meet your friend’s needs and desires.

You can introduce your friend to any of 30 different actions he or she can take to change their life. It’s free.

Your helping someone discover and encouraging them to take and to receive support for these Actions-to-Change-Your-Life can be the key for them to take their life in a new direction.

You don’t have to be an expert. Experienced volunteer Career Coaches, Specialists and Christian Mentors are eager to help. They will work 1-to-1 with the Participant you refer and/or with you.

These are Actions to gain understanding, expand career skills, achieve employment, gain spiritual strengthening and enhance relationships.

Follow up and support whatever Action(s) he or she chooses. Contact your friend once a week to see what progress they’re making, what help they need, congratulate and encourage them. If you have the ability, you can also serve as a career coach, specialist or Christian mentor for whichever Actions you choose.

Coach, Mentor or Advise someone taking Actions to Change their Life

Use your expertise, experience and enthusiasm to advise and encourage someone taking one or more of these Actions to change their life. The Actions are listed on the homepage.

As you support these Actions, you develop Relationships and impart timeless Biblical Values and lifelong Career Skills. Many volunteer coaches and mentors do the actions themselves to know better how to help others take the actions.

Choose which Actions

Choose the Action(s) for which you feel most qualified and motivated to help someone. The most common ways to help are as a career coach or specialist or Christian mentor. Please propose how you would like to help. You can help from home and it can be 1-to-1.

Welcome, introduce and follow up people who could benefit at worknlearn

Do you like meeting somebody new? You can be an essential player in the enrollment and onboarding process and perhaps make a huge difference in someone’s life.

Be one of the first people to contact someone who has expressed an interest in Change Your Life training. Thank her for contacting WorkNLearn.us. Ask how she heard about us, let her give you as much information as she is willing to do, tell her about the training and help and welcome her. Be a good listener and jot down as much as you can

A few questions you could ask
  • How did you hear about WorknLearn? Organization or person who referred her.
  • Are you involved with any organizations (e.g. work, church, volunteer).
  • Contact information. Address, phone, email, LinkedIn.
  • What would you most like to work on to Change Your Life?

Tell her a few things about your experience with WorknLearn that might interest her. Ask her to explore the Actions on the website worknlearn.us and call you after she has done that. Ask if you can call her after x days.

Follow up your call with an email thanking her and confirming or adding to any information you gave her.

WE’RE IN THE PROCESS OF SUPPORTING MORE PEOPLE TO CHANGE THEIR LIVES

Work&Learn Inc graduated its 26th 13-week course April 5, 2022. The courses for 13 years offered 12 weeks of classes with 12 Biblical Values and 12 Career Skills. Courses in 2020, 2021 and 2022 were virtual.

The opportunity has expanded to 30 Actions to Change Your Life anyone can take anywhere, any time, with skilled volunteer assistance.

Additional ways to volunteer

Consider these additional ways to help adults experience the power of Christ to transform their lives. Below are some of the opportunities. There are more. You might offer one we haven’t thought of.

Christian Mentor or Career Coach. Reach out to someone in need in your church, ministry or neighborhood and invite them to be a Participant.

Servant Leader. As an outreach to “the least of these,” encourage several to support each other taking these Actions. Add this to an existing outreach your church or ministry is already doing.

Ambassador to Churches, Ministries or Neighborhoods. Equip these organizations to use these resources to help people change their lives in their own ministry or service. Be a change agent in a poor neighborhood. Guide neighbors to come together to experience the power of Christ to transform their lives. See the least of these page.

Volunteer Coordinator. Recruit volunteers, assess their skills and interests, and match and introduce them to opportunities in the ministry.

Use the Actions as a program of studies for a small group or for classes

Small Groups

Small groups enable churches and other organizations to serve their members. But many attempts to form small groups fail. A group works well if it has a commonly shared purpose or interest. That purpose can be group members supporting each other to take Actions or help others take Actions to change their lives.

These Actions can serve as optional assignments for a study program designed for action. The study, action and relationships are strengthened in regular discussion in a small group. The small group can even be self-organized.

classes with instruction, action and discussion

Experience with a small group can also expand into classes in a course with an instructor and other human resources as shown below.

Encourager. Reaches out to encourage people to take the course and follows their progress.

Career Coach. Assists Participants learning and applying Career Skills such as communication, networking, resume, practice interviews, job search, and developing a Career Action Plan.

Christian Mentor. Assists Participants in their discussion of Biblical Values and how to apply them. Members enhance their knowledge of scripture and love for the Lord. See a more complete description on the Mentor page.

Pastor. The Pastor can recommend, support, encourage and pray for a Participant taking the Actions. The Pastor can also teach or supplement any of the 12 Biblical Values found in the Actions and listed below. The verses are also in the 158-page Know-How to Change-Your-Life℠ Course Workbook
